It’s College Application season! The months of October and November often signify an important time for college-bound students. Many applications are due in December or shortly after the New Year and our SSP seniors are currently hard at work with the guidance of their teachers, counselors, and mentors.

On October 18, SSP students involved in our College Readiness Pilot were given the opportunity to get even more help with these applications at Let’s Get Ready’s Annual College Application Day. Each student present at this informative event was paired with an expertly trained Let’s Get Ready mentor. During two separate workshops, students and these mentors worked collaboratively to finish and perfect the paperwork that students brought with them to the event.

The event was split into two separate workshops, which ensured the attendees received varied instruction. The first workshop, The Application Process, focused on the often lengthy paperwork that students face when applying. Afterwards, students were given a chance to focus on the written portion of applications: The Personal Statement.
