Why did you get involved with SSP?

I decided to get involved with SSP because I wanted to give back. I wanted to help someone have the chances and the great education that helped me get to where I am today. Every experience with SSP has been more rewarding than I could have imagined– it has really been fantastic. Jonel graduated this year, and I am so glad I did this.

What is the most rewarding part of mentoring?

The most rewarding part of mentoring is the bond and the friendship I have developed with Jonel– I really feel like we are now family. We are both so excited to share our successes with each other, and we support each other. It’s been an amazing partnership and bond.

Why should others get involved with SSP?

I think you really find out how much you can care as a person in a program like SSP. When you dedicate yourself to helping a student grow and overcome challenges you know they can get through, you can really help them believe in themselves as a person. You really get to see them grow and succeed.
