Credit Suisse Gives SSP $100,000

Credit Suisse has been an important partner to Student Sponsor Partners, helping underserved students graduate from high school since the organization’s founding in 1986. Credit Suisse’s philanthropy is centered around employee engagement, and this partnership with SSP stems from a culture of giving back. As a result, Credit Suisse provides a generous grant to SSP on an annual basis, and on August 2nd Credit Suisse gave SSP $100,000 to fund the continued growth of the organization.

Credit Suisse’s incredible generosity has been a major factor in SSP’s ability to grow and help an increasing number of students attend and graduate from quality, college-preparatory high schools. This fall SSP is set to have 525 students start ninth grade—the largest entering class in SSP’s history.

This generosity comes on the tails of the successful Credit Suisse Fixed Income Challenge, which raised $1.3 million to fund the tuition of 69 students in the Class of 2010. More recently, 41 Credit Suisse employees committed to sponsor 100 students in the SSP class of 2014, known as the CS 100. Many of these students are being mentored by Credit Suisse employees.

This winter, SSP was the fortunate recipient of $576,000 from an initiative spearheaded by the foundation and funded by Credit Suisse employee giving. Margaret Minson, SSP’s Executive Director, reflected on Credit Suisse’s incredible generosity: “Student Sponsor Partners is fortunate to have such loyal supporters within Credit Suisse. We couldn’t be more grateful to the Foundation for organizing this effort, supporting SSP in such a generous and creative way, and ultimately making high school graduation a reality for even more young New Yorkers in need.”

Credit Suisse’s generosity throughout SSP’s history, and especially the most recent $100,000 grant illustrates the firm’s commitment to both a partnership with Student Sponsor Partners and to giving underserved students the opportunity to receive a quality education. We thank Credit Suisse for their incredible and continued generosity.
