SSP Holds Summer Readiness Workshops for New Freshman

0162

This fall, 525 SSP students will enter ninth grade at 26 Partner Schools around New York City—the largest entering class in SSP’s history. To prepare them for the rigors of attending and succeeding at these quality, college-preparatory high schools each student is attending SSP’s Summer Readiness Workshops at their Partner School.

Run by the teachers at each Partner School, entering SSP ninth graders have been attending 2 to 3 week programs throughout the summer to help them brush up on their math and English skills. Since students attend the program at the school they will be attending in the fall, Summer Readiness also gives the students at each school an opportunity to get to know each other, to practice travelling to and from the school, and to become comfortable with their new school’s rules and regulations.

This year the Summer Readiness Workshops have been a great success, and the SSP class of 2015 is prepared to enter high school with the confidence that they can succeed and graduate with the help of their Partner Schools, mentors, and Sponsors.
