We are extremely proud of the accomplishments of the Student Sponsor Partners Class of 2012. The class achieved a graduation rate of 85%. Through SSP’s unique combination of educational and mentoring support, students who would otherwise be at risk of dropping out of high school are receiving the assistance they need to graduate. In addition to an impressive graduation rate, SSP’s Class of 2012 achieved numerous other accomplishments, including:
- A college acceptance rate of 94% among those who graduated.
- Nearly $20 million in total scholarships, awards andfinancial aid.
- Over 50 National Honors Society awards.
- Three valedictorians: Annel Fernandez at Aquinas High School; Ramelcy Uribe at St. Jean Baptiste High School; and Meera Montesdeoca at St. Joseph High School.
- Three salutatorians: Evelyn Bedoya at Martin Luther High School; Elvira Raposo at Catherine McAuley High School; and Jamel Simmons at St. Agnes Boys High School.
- One graduate attending Columbia University, Annel Fernandez of Aquinas High School.
- Two graduates attending Cornell University, Jamel Simmons of St. Agnes Boys High School, and Carmelo Urena of St. Raymond’s High School for Boys.
- One graduate attending Georgetown University, Stephanie Estevez of St. Jean Baptiste High School.
- Two graduates attending New York University, Crystal Valentine of St. Raymond Academy, and Genesis Almanzar of St. Jean Baptiste High School.
