SSP Strengthens Partnership with Dancing Dreams

Dancing Dreams

Student Sponsor Partners is pleased to be partnered with Dancing Dreams, to offer a valuable community service opportunity for many of our students.  Dancing Dreams is a Queens-based non-profit that makes ballet classes possible for young girls with physical handicaps.

In 2002, Dancing Dreams was started by pediatric physical therapist Joann Ferrara, to make the dancing dreams of these young girls come true. The program has grown from the initial five girls to the current group of 38 dancers, ranging in age from 3 to 17.

Each dancer has a “helper” — a high school student who is trained to assist her dancer during class. Seven SSP students, who attend The Mary Louis Academy and Martin Luther High School in Queens, have signed up to participate as volunteer helpers.  We hope to see the SSP participation number grow.
